GERUND

Gerund has the same form as present participle. Both of them are the -ing form verb or Verb + Ing. e.g. Speaking, walking, teaching, studying, listening, climbing, going, helping, searching, etc. However, Gerund is different of present participle. KEY : Gerund is a noun. It is because gerund doesn't contain an activity. Present participle is a real verb because present participle contains an activity which is being done or still going on. It is also called "Continuous verb form" because it is usually used in continuous or progressive tenses. Study this follows carefully! Gerund 1.My hobby is reading a novel. 2.I like hiking. 3.I am bored of playing badminton. EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE

This sentence is different of Interjection. Compare the two expressions below! 1. Alas!, Oh god!, Oh no! 2. How poor you are! Interjection makes a short expression and doesn't contain the elements of a sentence (a Subject and a verb). In an exclamatory sentence, we will find the subject and the verb being used. There are two kinds of Exclamatory sentence, they are: 1. Exclamatory "What" 2. Exclamatory "How" Exclamatory "What" uses the question word /what/ to express the exclamation. Because this type uses the question word /what/, the Object of /what/ must be combined of a noun or a noun phrase. For examples: What a bad day it is! What a nice day it is! We have 3 dimensions of time , they are : 1. Past time 2. Present Time 3. Future Time To express the point of time to someone else, we can use the name of the time, e.g. yesterday, tomorrow, last year, next week, a few days ago, etc. On the other hand, Name of time gives us when something happen. In the illustration above, we are in the present time. When we would like to say something happens in the past time, we can use like yesterday, .... ago, or last ... .And, When we would like to express something will happen or, based on a prediction, will happen in the future time, we can use the name of the time, like tomorrow or later or next .... . Those names of time describe the point of the event we do or someone else does. Tenses is a group of time which is formed to specialize the point of time when something happen. PASSIVE VOICE IN DETAILS Passive voice is to change the doer into object and the object into the doer. To change active voice into passive or passivating an active voice, you should : 1. Determine the Tense being used. 2. Find the /be/, based on the tense. 3. exchange the position of the doer and the object. For examples: The English teacher often punishes me. Indicators found are: The doer = /The English Teacher/ Object = /me/ Tense being used = /Present Simple/. Look at the determiner of present simple, that is, /punishes/. Now's time to change it! Take notice that there are two elements added in the passive voice, they are: 1. Be /am/ 2. By /Particle or preposition/ When the object is changed into the doer or the subject, /be/ /am/ must be used. Why /am/ ? . Passive voice is only used in verbal sentence not in nominal sentence. It is impossible for us to change this following sentence (Nominal) into passive. She is lazy. (This nominal sentence can not be changed into passive.)
